ActionAid Ireland supports 3 vital projects. These projects are changing the lives of thousands of the world’s most vulnerable people. Fact: in recent years nearly 30,000 villagers from eastern Uganda have been forced from their land as a result of conflict. Their homes, school and crops were burned, and their livestock stolen.
Aim: to help people returning to the village of Giriki to create a secure future for their children, starting with a new primary school, built on land that the community has already secured from the government. Read more.
Fact: freed Kamaiya (bonded labourers are Nepal's poorest people. Many became homeless when their landlords evicted them in 2000 after they were freed, and the government has done little to help.
Aim: to improve the lives of freed Kamaiya people by providing secure housing in Western Nepal, and improving access to other government services, such as education for their children. Read more.
Fact: every year, more than 300 million people - including 60 million children - are affected by conflict or natural disaster.
Aim: to provide immediate aid to children and young people caught up in emergency situations, and provide long-term recovery and support. Read more

Step 2: contact ActionAid to help you promote your event - you can raise money as an individual, a family, a community group or a school. Get in touch so we can help you get publicity for your event with posters, fact sheets and through social media or local press. make it fun! You can also set up your own online fundraising page with www.mycharity.ie and spread the word online.
Step 3: hold a fundraising event or activity - whether its a sponsored swim, run or walk, talent show, coffee morning, bake sale or good old fashioned jumble sale, we can help get your fundraising juices flowing. Link your event to your chosen priority project and start thinking up some fun ideas.
